While some attorneys will tell you about the cases they handle, George will tell you about the people he serves. George became a lawyer because he has a passion for helping people in his home community.


George was raised on a dairy and tobacco farm in Blanch, Caswell County. After graduating from law school in 1976, it was a no brainer for George to come back home to work in Caswell County. After practicing law for 10 years, in 1986 George ran for the North Carolina Senate, and won, and thereafter served in the North Carolina General Assembly for a total of four terms, all the while maintaining his law practice.


Outside of the legal universe, George has a passion for public service and remains active in public policy, governance and politics in the area. In the past, George has served on the Centennial Authority, which is a Board selected by the North Carolina General Assembly responsible for overseeing the building and management of the PNC Arena in Raleigh. Just across the state line in Danville, Virginia, George has also served on the Board of Trustees at Averrett University, the Danville Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, and the Danville Regional Foundation Board.


George is passionate about the future of his region and is continuously searching for ways to contribute to the betterment of the region for future generations to come.


Inside the legal arena, George has served as President of the 9A Judicial District Bar, and has served nine years as a state bar counselor, which is handpicked group of attorneys selected to ensure that attorneys throughout North Carolina are meeting their legal and ethical obligations.


Since his first year of practice in 1976, George has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the American Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.
